The A.D.D. Blues

August 26, 2011

I recently wrote a song called “One Foot in Front of Another”. It’s sub-titled the “A.D.D. Blues” which is pretty much all you need to know.

One Foot in Front of Another (A.D.D. Blues)
Mike Vascellaro – ©5-23-11

Some days you got the world sitting in the palm of your hand
But those days are rare, usually you’re stuck in quicksand
And you’re thinking to your self,
It ain’t exactly going as planned

You’re feeling overwhelmed & don’t know quite where to start
Some would say your lazy but that’s
really not the issue at heart
Lots of folks talkin’ at you, wisdom they want to impart.

Chorus
You put one foot in front of another
One foot in front of another
And pretty soon you will discover
You’ll find yourself further down the road
then you’d ever thought you’d be

Procrastination’s calling but you rather not see that old friend
You’re an old pro at stalling & that
deadline is just around the bend
In your head bells are warning
this nonsense has really got to end. (to Chorus)

Bridge
Your brain goes on these journeys
It goes a million miles away
And you sit and accomplish nothing
the whole damn day
You got the A.D.D. Blues for certain
If you got’em then you’ll understand
But you gotta let go and
Let the Spirit take command

Chorus
You put one foot in front of another
One foot in front of another
And pretty soon you will discover
You’ll find yourself further down the road
then you’d ever thought you’d be
You’ll find yourself further down the road
then you’d ever thought you’d be
You’ll find yourself further down the road
then you’d ever thought you’d be

Rewrote the bridge to a song I orginally wrote in 2006.

New Day
By Mike Vascellaro © 2006

Your friends let you down again, you were counting on to pull you through,
So, your depressed again so alone again, the blues have got you,
It’s a sad situation every time a relation causes you pain,
You seek retaliation for the humiliation you can not restrain,
But it still is not too late for you yet.

Chorus:
Well, it’s a new day forget yesterday, you can’t alter the past, but you always can pray
It’s a new day, so be on your way, it’s time to move & thank the Lord for the day.

Life seems to pass you by even though you try to conquer you fall,
Overcome by circumstance, there is no second chance for you at all,
You need some motivation to provide the stimulation just to get through the day,
Seeking adulation you instead get accusation, you’ve been betrayed,
But it still’s not too late for you yet. (to Chorus)

Bridge:
Why do you just sit there feeling sorry for yourself
You’re a slave of self pity, a discarded toy on a shelf
There’s a path to freedom, but you need to reach out, to the one waiting for you. Read more...

Recording in 2010

January 26, 2010

Every year for the past couple of years I keep on telling myself that I’m going to finish recording a CD THIS year. And of course time goes by and life happens and I get to the end of another year and look back on the year and guess what????…..I’ve done little to no recording.

Well this year’s going to be different (I know….this is what I say every year) but this year IS going to be different….. really.

Anyway I am already starting off this year better with a session schedule for this evening with Jerry Wood. We will be going through some recordings we did a few years back to see what we’ve got and decide where to go from there.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with the 1st step. Today Step 1.
